ImagineFX Magazine #084

I am pleased to report that the sci-fi/fantasy art magazineImagineFX has published a full page feature about me in their current issue.

I’ve been reading this publication for years and it has certainly been a great source of inspiration and education during that time. So it’s definitely a thrill to be included among some really talented folks.

Here’s the scan:

WarCrab!

I was recently commissioned to do an album cover for the UK based Sludge/Death Metal band WarCrab. They liked a sketch I did a while back so I got the chance to elaborate on that idea.

Below is the full painting that will be wrapped around the front and back of the album. Or possibly some kind of gatefold layout.

I’m doing another show with Gallery1988 next month at their location in Venice CA. This one will be focused  on Steve Martin. For my piece I’m paying tribute to a film called “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” from 1982. This underrated gem was written by Martin and Carl Reiner. It’s an homage/parody of the noir detective films of the 1940s. So I decided to do an homage to the pulp crime novels of the same era. I created an illustrated cover in the appropriate style with a kind of looser pastel look, complete with wear an tear. I’ve done a couple of these retro covers covers in the past, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to do another one. There will be a limited print run of this piece at the gallery and then online after the show opens. I’ll update closer to the opening with further details.

2 notes

Just a reminder. This is the first of several shows I’ll be doing this summer with Gallery1988. The opening is Friday, May 4th, 7-10pm. (My birthday!) The theme of the show is internet memes. So I had to include the piece below. Please come out if you are in the Los Angeles area, it’s going to be fun!  I’ll update with the dates of the next two shows very soon. Both shows will have brand new pieces from me.
